I had thought the trebuchet guy was the best proof of a British surfeit of leisure. That was before I discovered the British Lawnmower Museum. I love the earnestness with which someone put this place together. If for no other reason, stop by and check out the theme music.

And if you’re ever in Lancashire, you might just spot the lawnmower of Diana Princess of Wales and learn the origins of crucial lawncare phrases such as “Shank’s Pony” and “Crickets In the Slips.” The British Lawnmower Museum also features a 2″ lawnmower and video of some of the world’s fastest lawnmowers. And remember kids — “When the growing gets rough, the tough get mowing!”
brilliant. just mowed the lawn, and burned a bunch of fallen branches. hehe.
