On April 16th, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine reached a wonderful milestone. On that day, the leadership of the denomination passed entirely into Ukrainian hands as the presbytery was “particularized” at a service in Odessa. This is a fantastic accomplishment — with the constant aid of the Holy Spirit, Ukrainian and American laborers have reintroduced the Reformed faith into post-Soviet Ukraine. The Presbyterian Church has grown from a handful of believers into a mature, self-governing presbytery.
At present, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ukraine consists of eleven churches, a medical clinic, a Reformed seminary, and many smaller evangelistic or mercy ministries. Several more churches are planned for the near-term. Please pray for the continued growth of all faithful churches in Ukraine. The heady days of the immediate post-Soviet era are gone and it is now a really tough mission field. Please pray for our missionaries, the people of Ukraine, and for God’s guidance for the political leadership of their country.
Hat tip to my old pal Bob Burnham for the pic!
Great news! A friend of mine from MTW is heading to Odessa with her husband. She was there before you guys and they are going back to work in counseling-type ministry. Very exciting to see what God is doing there!
I love the photo essays from Bob!
And I’m just rejoicing that the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Ukraine has become self-governing and particularized!
