I usually don’t make it a point to post links to other sites, but I’ll make an exception here for how great it is. Michelle Malkin has an excellent article today about the many verbal flubs of Barack “The Messiah” Obama. She rightly points out that any Republican with similar flawed conjecture (like the Bushisms) would be constantly flaunted as a flaw of the candidate by the left wing media.
Read it if you get a chance.
I saw that article, and some similar comments, also. I hope this will keep drawing attention.
What’s your favorite “Obamism?”
Hahaha… Good idea! My favorite Obamism for a long time was, “I don’t want my daughter punished with a baby!”
However, I believe my new favorite Obamism is either the 57 remark (even though he probably meant to say 47), how do you mess something like that up and NOT catch it mid-sentence?
I am also a fan of the newest Obamism, “You can’t eat what you want, drive as much as you want, and cool your home to 72 degrees and expect that the rest of the world will say ok!”
Someone tell Obama that I don’t need permission from the UN or the EU to turn on my AC, thanks.
Yeah, that one about food and thermostats is spooky. The 57 states thing is a sideshow, of course, but . . . good grief, “potatoe”?
Dan Quayle should jump into the race, about now.
Tell me, what is the official language of Pakistan? India? Nepal?
Bangladesh? How many languages are spoken in India? But then, I’m not running for Prez.
Pashtu, Hindi, [Nepalese], don’t know. Singapore has four, including (as does India) its own certifiable dialect of English.
In India, if I recall correctly, it is “more than 10″; while China has at least 19.
Important languages in India for scholars (like me) would be Pali, in which the Buddhist classics and many important Hindu works are written; Sanskrit, which is linguistically important for being a major Indo-European branch (the core member of the “satem” division as opposed to the “centum” division that includes Latin, Greek, and the Teutonic languages).
…anyway, if your point is that the President doesn’t have to know this stuff, necessarily, when he has people to keep track of it–I agree. If your point is that the Presidential candidate should check with those people before shooting his mouth off, I also agree.
My favorite Obamism at present would have to be the one about his parents….who got married in 1961 as a result of a 1965 event.
That’s about as good as “sniper fire.” And way better than “strategery,” which was actually made up for an SNL skit, anyway.
argh! Pakistan might be Urdu. sorry.
Bangladesh might be Tamil, which is the language of its out-of-power majority.
I know what languages are spoken; just wondered if you who are so quick to jump down Obama’s throat know. Of course, none of us are running for president so I guess we can be excused.
English is the official language of India (I think) though Hindi is the major language spoken. There are over 400 languages spoken in India which are yet to be surveyed by a linguistics organization of which I am aware. Urdu is spoken in Pakistan. Urdu and Hindi are very similar.
Bengali is spoken in Bangladesh
Nicely done. Looking those up would have been cheating, so I tried off-the-cuff.
I trust we all noticed the point, here: people don’t necessarily know, nor should they, data not relevant to the expertise they claim. For example, I was right about Pali and Sanskrit, right/wrong about Hindi (I tend to “skip” English), and pretty confused everywhere else. I skipped Bengali because it was too obvious, and in both Pakistan and Bangladesh I mixed in extraneous facts.
Just the same, a Presidential candidate will get skewered on this (if he’s Republican), so…
Republicans should get it right or they’ll get skewered.
And we should feel free to skewer Democrats who do even worse.
Tamil is one of the languages of Sri Lanka That’s the country with the out of power Tamil majority.
Oh, no, I missed a period in the sentence above! Now I can’t run for Prez!
Pgepps, I’m about ready to give up on these libs… They just don’t respond to common sense!
see, pentamom, that’s why I stick to BRITISH literature.
