At the McCain Rally!

The boys and I have been spending our free time doing McCain campaign work — sign waving, phone banking, knocking on doors, etc. Last Tuesday, we were able to see McCain speak in Tampa (sadly sans Sarah.) We arrived a little late, so our photos were shot from the overflow area. Happily, turnout was such that there was a lot of overflow!

Arriving at the event, we initially thought a group of 25-30 homeless people had encamped at the Tampa Convention Center. On closer inspection, however, we realized it was just an angry mob of community organizers. Commonalities in fashion and hygiene help explain my mistake.

The speech was a significant one, falling on the very morning when the U.S. economic meltdown went into super-melt mode. His speech came across strong in person, but the anti-Wall Street populism sounded a bit sub-presidential. . . McCain has since responded well to the economic crisis, but he sounded a bit off that first morning.

Outside the event, the boys and I staged a little counter-protest near the Lefties. It was all in good fun.
